Induction of Ovulation
If you suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and need fertility treatment in Tamilnadu, India, we offer induction of ovulation. Ovulation problems are a common cause of infertility, usually caused by conditions such as PCOS, irregular periods or no periods at all.
What is induction of ovulation?
It involves stimulating your ovaries to produce an egg. This technique is used if you are failing to ovulate, but you have normal fallopian tubes and your partner’s sperm is normal.
What happens?
You will be prescribed a course of drugs to stimulate your ovaries, and will then be closely monitored through ultrasound and blood tests to measure your hormone levels, allowing us to pinpoint when ovulation occurs.
Which drugs will I be taking?
Your ovaries are stimulated with clomiphene or gonadotrophins, which contain follicle stimulating hormones to trigger the development of eggs in your ovaries. Once ovulation begins, you can then have normal intercourse, or it can also be used in conjunction with IUI – intrauterine insemination – where your partner’s sperm is inserted through your cervix using a fine catheter.
Are there any side effects?
One of the main risks of ovulation induction is hyperstimulation, where your ovaries can produce too many eggs. However, you are carefully monitored throughout your treatment to avoid this happening.
What is the success rate for pregnancy?
The drugs used are generally very successful in inducing ovulation, however pregnancy success depends on a number of factors, including your age and the quality of your eggs.
